General Information

Visual Inspection

  • Look for any fluid dripping or pooling around the pump or any wet spots on the pump casing or nearby equipment.
  • Check for any stains or discoloration on the pump or surrounding components that may indicate a leak.
  • Visually inspect the entire pump casing, including the suction and discharge ports, for any visible cracks or signs of damage.
  • Pay close attention to areas where the casing may be under stress, such as flange connections or welds.
  • Examine the impeller blades and hub for any signs of wear, such as nicks, dents, or erosion.
  • Look for any irregularities in the shape or surface of the impeller that may indicate excessive wear or erosion.
  • Check the shaft for any visible signs of bending, twisting, or other damage.
  • Inspect the bearings for any excessive play, noise, or overheating that may indicate misalignment or damage.
  • Verify that the pump shaft and motor shaft are aligned properly.
  • Check for any visible misalignment, such as offset couplings or visibly crooked shafts.
  • Inspect all seals, gaskets, and packing for signs of leakage or wear.
  • Look for any visible damage or deterioration in the sealing system components.
  • Inspect all bolts, nuts, and fasteners for proper tightness.
  • Look for any signs of loose or missing bolts or fasteners that may indicate a potential issue.
  • Check the pump base for any visible cracks, shifting, or other signs of instability.
  • Ensure that the pump base is properly aligned with the foundation and securely anchored.

Performance Testing

Lubrication and Cooling System

  • Check oil or grease reservoir
  • Ensure oil or grease level is within acceptable range
  • Inspect lubrication system
  • Look for any signs of leaks
  • Check for any blockages in the lubrication system
  • Inspect cooling system (if applicable)
  • Ensure cooling system is functioning properly
  • Check oil or grease quality
  • If oil or grease quality is not acceptable, replace it
  • Verify functioning of alarms and sensors
  • Check if lubrication and cooling system alarms and sensors are working properly
