Replace RAM

Preparation

Identify the specific system or device that requires RAM replacement.

Ensure that the replacement RAM is compatible with the system/device.

Gather the necessary tools such as screwdrivers, antistatic wrist strap, etc.

Power off the system/device and unplug it from the power source.

Removal of Existing RAM

Open the system/device casing following the manufacturer's instructions.

Locate the existing RAM modules within the system/device.

Carefully disconnect any cables or connectors attached to the RAM modules.

Release the retention clips on both sides of the RAM module.

Gently remove the existing RAM module(s) from their slots.

Insertion of New RAM

Verify the orientation of the new RAM module(s) and ensure they match the slots.

Align the notches on the RAM module(s) with the corresponding key(s) on the slot(s).

Firmly press the RAM module(s) into the slot(s) until the retention clips secure them.

Reconnect any cables or connectors that were detached during the removal process.

Closing and Testing

Ensure all cables are properly connected and secured within the system/device.

Close the system/device casing and fasten any screws or clips as required.

Plug the system/device back into the power source and power it on.

Verify that the system/device recognizes the new RAM by checking the BIOS/UEFI.

Run a memory test or diagnostic tool to confirm the new RAM is functioning correctly.

Perform a system/device functionality test to ensure there are no issues.

Documentation and Cleanup

Update the system/device's documentation to reflect the RAM replacement.

Record the date, time, and details of the RAM replacement for future reference.

Store any unused RAM modules in an appropriate location for future use.

Dispose of the old RAM modules according to proper recycling or disposal guidelines.

Clean up the workstation area and return any tools to their designated places.

Note: The specific steps might vary depending on the system/device and organization's policies.
