Pre-Merge Checklist

Merging Process

Navigate to the repository on Bitbucket.

Go to Bitbucket and log in.
Navigate to the repository that contains the branch you want to merge.

Open the branch that needs to be merged into the master branch.

Click on the 'Branches' tab.
Locate the branch you want to merge and click on it.

Click on the "Create a pull request" button.

Select the master branch as the target branch for the pull request.

Provide a clear and descriptive title for the pull request.

Add any additional comments or information that may be relevant.

Review the changes in the pull request and ensure they are as expected.

Assign the pull request to the appropriate reviewer(s).

Wait for the reviewers to review and approve the pull request.

Make any necessary changes or address any issues raised during the review process.

Once all reviewers have approved the pull request, click on the "Merge" button.

Choose the merge strategy (e.g., Squash, Rebase, etc.) based on the team's agreement.

Add a meaningful merge commit message that describes the changes being merged.

Click on the "Merge" button to complete the merge process.

Delete the feature branch once the merge is complete

Push the changes to the master branch

Update any related documentation that may have been affected by the merge

Post-Merge Steps

Verify that the merge was successful by checking the repository's commit history.

Delete the branch if it is no longer needed.

Inform the relevant stakeholders about the successful merge.

Update any relevant documentation or release notes to reflect the merged changes.

Run any necessary tests on the merged code in the master branch.

Deploy the merged code to the appropriate environments.

Monitor the deployed code for any potential issues or bugs.

Schedule and communicate any necessary follow-up tasks or maintenance activities.
