PreOp/Recovery transport checklist

Verify patient identity, procedure to be performed, and PCA/MA orders

Ensure all necessary PCA/MA equipment is ready and functioning properly

Confirm patient has followed preoperative instructions regarding fasting and medications

Check patient's vital signs and document on transportation record

Notify appropriate staff members of patient's arrival

Verify patient allergies and any special considerations

Review patient's medical history and current medications

Ensure patient has signed all necessary consent forms

Confirm any necessary preoperative labs or tests have been completed

Communicate with anesthesia regarding any specific needs or considerations for the patient

Ensure patient is properly dressed and prepared for transport

Verify PCA/MA orders and medication dosages

Secure patient safely on stretcher with appropriate restraints

Monitor patient's pain level and condition throughout transport

Communicate with patient and adjust PCA/MA settings as needed

Notify receiving staff of any changes in patient's pain level or condition

Confirm patient identity, procedure performed, and PCA/MA orders

Monitor patient's vital signs, pain level, and PCA/MA usage on transportation record

Provide necessary postoperative instructions to patient and family regarding PCA/MA usage

Ensure patient is comfortable and stable before leaving recovery area

Report any concerns or incidents during transport to appropriate staff members.
