LAUNDRY MAINTANCES CHECKLIST

Washing Machine

  • Inspect the area around the washing machine for any water drips or puddles
  • Check the hoses and connections for any visible signs of leakage
  • Remove the detergent dispenser drawer
  • Soak it in warm soapy water
  • Scrub with a brush to remove any residue
  • Rinse thoroughly before placing it back
  • Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the detergent dispenser
  • Run the washing machine on the hottest setting
  • Allow the cycle to complete to help remove any buildup and odors
  • Check the hoses for any cracks, bulges, or signs of wear
  • Tighten any loose connections
  • Inspect the drum for any dark spots or musty odor
  • Wipe down the drum with a solution of water and bleach to remove any mold or mildew
  • Wipe down the rubber door seal with a damp cloth
  • Remove and clean the filter according to the manufacturer's instructions
  • Run a wash cycle and check if water is entering the machine properly
  • Ensure there are no leaks around the inlet valves
  • Visually inspect the belts and pulleys for any fraying or damage
  • Replace any worn out belts or pulleys to prevent further issues
  • Remove the front panel of the washing machine
  • Inspect the drain pump for any obstructions or debris
  • Clear out any clogs to ensure proper drainage

Dryer

  • Locate the lint trap usually inside the door or at the top of the dryer
  • Remove any lint by hand or with a brush
  • Replace the lint trap back in its place
  • Disconnect the dryer from the power source
  • Remove the vent hose from the dryer
  • Check for any lint or debris blocking the vent
  • Clear any blockages and reattach the vent hose
  • Run the dryer on a cycle and listen for any unusual sounds
  • Stop the dryer if you hear anything unusual
  • Investigate the source of the noise and address accordingly
  • Turn on the dryer and select a high heat setting
  • Feel for heat coming from the dryer
  • If there is no heat, the heating element may need to be replaced
  • Use a damp cloth or dryer sheet to wipe down the inside of the drum
  • Remove any stains or residue
  • Ensure the drum is dry before using the dryer
  • Inspect the rubber seal around the dryer door for any tears or gaps
  • Replace the seal if it is damaged to prevent leaks and improve efficiency
  • Turn off the dryer and unplug it from the power source
  • Open the dryer cabinet and inspect the belt for cracks or fraying
  • Replace the belt if it shows signs of wear to prevent damage
  • Use a level tool to check if the dryer is sitting evenly on the floor
  • Adjust the dryer's feet or placement if needed to ensure it is level
  • An unlevel dryer can cause noise and vibration during operation
  • Run the dryer on different settings such as high heat, low heat, timed dry, etc.
  • Ensure all settings are functioning properly
  • Address any issues with settings or functions as needed
