Exterior

Check tire pressure

Use a tire pressure gauge to check the pressure of each tire
Refer to the vehicle owner's manual for the recommended tire pressure

Inspect tires for wear and tear

Check for uneven tread wear
Inspect for any cuts, cracks, or bulges on the tires

Check all lights (headlights, taillights, turn signals)

Turn on each light individually and visually inspect for any burned out bulbs
Check the turn signals by activating them while walking around the vehicle

Inspect windshield for cracks or chips

Carefully examine the windshield for any cracks or chips
Even small chips can compromise the integrity of the windshield

Check windshield wipers and fluid levels

Inspect the condition of the wiper blades for any signs of wear
Check the windshield washer fluid level and top up if necessary

Inspect side mirrors for proper adjustment and any damage

Ensure that each side mirror is properly adjusted for optimal visibility
Check for any cracks, scratches, or other damage on the mirror surface

Check for any dents or scratches on the exterior of the vehicle

Walk around the vehicle and inspect the body panels for any dents or scratches
Note any areas that may require touch-up paint or dent repair

Test the functionality of the power windows and door locks

Operate each power window to ensure smooth and quiet operation
Test the door locks by locking and unlocking each door with the key fob

Ensure that all exterior trim pieces are securely attached

Check for any loose or missing trim pieces around the windows, doors, and bumpers
Secure any loose trim pieces to prevent them from coming off while driving

Check the condition of the paint for any fading or peeling

Inspect the paint finish for any signs of fading or peeling
Consider waxing and polishing the vehicle to protect the paint

Inspect the condition of the license plate and registration stickers

Ensure that the license plate is securely attached and legible
Check the registration stickers for validity and proper placement

Check seat belts for proper function

Inspect dashboard for warning lights

Check heating and air conditioning system

Test radio and speakers
