Pre-Shift Preparation

  • Inspect uniform for stains, tears, or wrinkles
  • Ensure uniform is properly fitted and all buttons/zippers are done up
  • Check for appropriate footwear and accessories
  • Familiarize yourself with daily specials and any changes to the menu
  • Be prepared to answer any questions about the menu items
  • Check that you have a working pen or pencil
  • Ensure you have enough order pads for the shift
  • Verify any other tools needed for service are on hand
  • Wipe down the table, chairs, and any condiment holders
  • Ensure salt and pepper shakers are filled
  • Check that any necessary equipment (e.g. crumbers) are clean and ready for use
