Patient Assessment

Secure the patient's airway using the agreed-upon method (e.g., endotracheal intubation, supraglottic airway insertion).

Intraoperative Monitoring

Continuously monitor the patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and end-tidal carbon dioxide.

Monitor the depth of anesthesia using appropriate devices (e.g., bispectral index monitor).

Positioning and Safety

Ensure the patient is positioned correctly and safely for the surgical procedure.

Secure all necessary safety restraints and padding to prevent injury.

Anesthetic Maintenance

Continuously administer and adjust the anesthetic agents as needed to maintain anesthesia.

Monitor and manage the patient's fluid status, temperature, and pain control.

Emergence and Recovery

Prepare for the patient's emergence from anesthesia.

Monitor the patient's vital signs and ensure a smooth transition to the recovery area.

Postoperative Handover

Communicate relevant information to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) staff.

Provide a detailed handover report, including the patient's condition, medications administered, and any concerns or complications.

Documentation

Document all relevant information in the patient's medical record, including anesthesia-related details.
