  • Locate the transmission fluid dipstick
  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean
  • Reinsert the dipstick fully and then pull it out again to check the fluid level
  • Add more transmission fluid if the level is below the recommended amount
  • Visually inspect CV joints and driveshafts for any signs of wear or damage
  • Check for any grease leaks around the CV joints
  • Replace any CV joints or driveshafts that show excessive wear
  • Start the vehicle and engage the clutch
  • Shift through all gears to ensure smooth operation
  • Pay attention to any slipping or grinding noises
  • Locate the differential fluid fill plug
  • Remove the plug and check the fluid level
  • Add more differential fluid if needed
  • Visually inspect the transfer case for any signs of leaks or damage
  • Check for any cracks or holes in the casing
  • Address any leaks or damage immediately
  • Visually inspect the transmission mounts for any signs of wear or damage
  • Check for any cracks or tears in the rubber
  • Replace any worn or damaged mounts
  • Take the vehicle for a test drive
  • Listen for any abnormal noises coming from the transmission or drivetrain
  • Feel for any vibrations that are out of the ordinary
  • Visually inspect the transmission pan for any signs of leaks
  • Tighten any loose bolts on the transmission pan
  • Replace the gasket if necessary
  • Drive the vehicle and shift through all gears
  • Pay attention to the shift points and how smoothly they engage
  • Adjust the shift points if necessary
  • Inspect the transmission fluid for any signs of contamination
  • Look for particles or a burnt smell in the fluid
  • Address any contamination issues immediately
  • Visually inspect the universal joints for any signs of wear or damage
  • Check for any excessive play in the joints
  • Replace any worn universal joints
