1. Pre-Use Inspection
- Examine the entire respirator surface.
- Look for dents, scratches, or deformities.
- Check for any missing parts.
- Ensure all components are securely attached.
- Hold the facepiece up to a light source.
- Inspect the edges and sealing surfaces.
- Look for any signs of wear or deterioration.
- Test flexibility by gently bending the material.
- Inspect each strap for frays or breaks.
- Check buckle mechanisms for proper function.
- Ensure straps adjust smoothly.
- Confirm that straps can hold the respirator securely.
- Check that cartridges are seated correctly.
- Inspect for any damage on the cartridges.
- Look for expiration date on packaging.
- Ensure that the correct type of filter is used.
- Remove the valve cover if applicable.
- Inspect the valve for debris or obstructions.
- Test the valve by inhaling and exhaling.
- Ensure it opens and closes without sticking.
