Set up Google Tag Manager Account

Sign in to Google Tag Manager with your Google Account

Click on "Create Account"

Enter an Account Name and select the appropriate Country and Time Zone

Click on "Continue"

Create a Google Tag Manager Container

Click on "Create Container"

Enter a Container Name and select the appropriate Target Platform (Web)

Click on "Create"

Install Google Tag Manager on Squarespace

Log in to your Squarespace account

Go to the Home Menu and click on "Settings"

Select "Advanced" and then "Code Injection"

Paste the Google Tag Manager container code into the "Header" section

Click on "Save"

Add Google Analytics to Google Tag Manager

Go back to Google Tag Manager and select your container

Click on "Add a New Tag"

Select "Google Analytics" as the Tag Type

Configure your Google Analytics settings (tracking ID, triggers, etc.)

Click on "Save"

Preview and Publish Google Tag Manager

Click on "Submit" in the top right corner of Google Tag Manager

Add a descriptive Version Name and Description

Click on "Create Version"

Click on "Preview" to test your tags on your Squarespace website

Make sure all tags are firing correctly

Click on "Publish" to make the changes live

Verify Google Tag Manager Implementation

Visit your Squarespace website and use the Google Tag Assistant Chrome extension to verify if the tags are firing correctly

Check your Google Analytics account to ensure data is being tracked accurately

Additional Customizations

If you have additional tracking codes or tags, you can add them in Google Tag Manager by creating new tags and configuring the appropriate triggers

Test and verify the implementation of each additional tag

Ongoing Maintenance

Regularly check your Google Tag Manager account to ensure all tags are functioning properly

Update or modify tags as needed

Stay up to date with any changes or updates to Google Tag Manager and adjust your implementation accordingly
