Determine the immediate safety of the child in the foster care placement

Assess the level of crisis and urgency of the situation

Identify any potential risk factors or triggers for the crisis

Contact the caseworker or agency supervisor to report the crisis

Notify any other relevant parties, such as therapists, teachers, or medical professionals

Document all communication related to the crisis and any actions taken

Offer resources and referrals for additional support services, such as counseling or crisis intervention

Coordinate with the child's school to ensure they receive necessary accommodations and support during the crisis

Connect the child with peer support groups or mentorship programs to provide additional emotional support

Advocate for the child's needs within the foster care system and ensure they receive appropriate services and care

Offer ongoing support and check-ins to monitor the child's well-being and progress following the crisis

Develop a safety plan for the child to address immediate concerns

Identify safe places for the child to go in case of emergency

Establish communication protocols for checking in on the child's safety

Schedule a follow-up meeting with the child, foster parents, and other involved parties to discuss the crisis and next steps
