Installation Procedure

  • Align the hinge knuckles and insert hinge pins.
  • Ensure the door hangs straight and swings freely.
  • Tighten hinge screws securely to the door and frame.
  • Check the gap between the door and frame at the top and sides.
  • Adjust hinges or shims to correct misalignments.
  • Ensure there is adequate clearance at the bottom for flooring.
  • Repeat adjustments until the door operates smoothly.
  • Confirm the door opens in the desired direction.
  • Check for any obstructions that may affect swing.
  • Adjust hinge placement if the swing is incorrect.
  • Ensure the door handle is accessible from the outside.
  • Position the strike plate where the latch will engage.
  • Mark the screw holes and outline the plate on the frame.
  • Chisel out the area for the strike plate if needed.
  • Secure the strike plate with screws ensuring it's flush with the frame.
  • Install the exterior knob or handle first according to instructions.
  • Secure the interior knob or handle to the spindle.
  • Ensure all screws are tightened and knobs rotate freely.
  • Test the locking mechanism for proper function.
  • Open and close the door several times to check movement.
  • Listen for any rubbing or scraping sounds.
  • Ensure the latch engages with the strike plate without obstruction.
  • Make any necessary adjustments to hinges or shims.
  • Choose suitable location for additional hardware on the door.
  • Mark and drill holes according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Install the deadbolt or privacy lock securely.
  • Test functionality of additional hardware after installation.
  • Inspect the perimeter of the door for consistent gaps.
  • Adjust shims or tighten hinge screws to eliminate gaps.
  • Check operation after adjustments to ensure functionality.
  • Repeat checks until gaps are minimized.
  • Choose appropriate weather stripping for the door type.
  • Clean the door frame surface to ensure adhesion.
  • Cut weather stripping to fit around the frame.
  • Press it firmly into place, ensuring no gaps remain.
  • Select trim style that matches interior design.
  • Measure and cut trim pieces to fit around the frame.
  • Secure trim with finishing nails or adhesive.
  • Fill nail holes with caulk or wood filler for a clean finish.
  • Verify all screws on hinges, knobs, and strike plates are tight.
  • Test door function again for any issues.
  • Inspect trim and casing for any loose pieces.
  • Clean the area and remove any installation debris.
